This is my 14th school year teaching at Monroe Elementary as an Intervention Specialist, which I'm highly qualified in teaching math. Currently, I'm teaching 5th grade but have taught grades 3 and 4 in the past. In 2015, I was fortunate enough to receive an honor from Bowling Green State University as an award nominee for Educator of the Year!
I grew up in Blue Ash and graduated from Sycamore High School in 1998. From there, I attended BGSU and earned my bachelor's degree in 2002. I also was in the Chi Omega Sorority at BGSU where I held leadership roles. Later, I earned my master's degree in 2007 from WSU. Adding to my teaching experience, I was fortunate to teach our PreK Sunday School class at our church which was such a blessing for me.
As you can see, my husband and I are huge Green Bay fans! And yes, even our dog, Dasher, had his very own cheesehead. We welcomed our first child, Kennedy Rae Margo deBord, on November 9, 2011. She arrived two months early and has been such a blessing to our family. She spent 30 days in the NICU and we are so pleased with how hard she works every single day! We donate and walk proudly each year for Team Kennedy Rae for the March for Babies' Walk benefiting the March of Dimes organization. Most recently, we welcomed our son, Will, on December 22, 2015, and he has completed our hearts!
My classroom is a place for learning, adventure, and a source for sensory needs. I was awarded a grant for purchasing Chromebooks and sensory materials for my classroom. I'm excited for your child to have this opportunity! Guided reading is so important for my instruction and I encourage all students to read daily. Darth Vader supports reading daily as well! (Don't worry, it's just my husband dressed up for our book fair in the last picture) Technology is a big part of my instruction; I like to incorporate the Elmo/Projector as well as the iPad for educational apps.
I take pride in my role as an educator and advocate for all students' needs. Together, we can make a difference!
